With everything I share my intent is not to create fear, yes we should worry about chronic illness, but not to the point where it adds anxiety into our life. The media and the news does enough of that creating fear that makes you feel hopeless or powerless. My blog’s intent is to do the exact opposite by showing how you can take charge of your health. Our world has enough stress. We don’t need more do we?
The Goal Is To Feel More in Control Over Your Health!
The Wellness Resolution is all about educating people to empower them. I want you to feel more in control of your health than ever before!
Anxiety is not good for your health. So if I’m sharing something in my blog that feels a bit overwhelming to you, break it down into smaller changes. Be proud of each small change you make. All those little changes will add up to big health improvements in your life. Also, don’t compare your journey with others. Instead, look at how healthy you are compared to your former self.
The goal of The Wellness Resolution is to help people continuously make wellness resolutions over time. I still have many wellness resolutions I’m working on myself, and plan to continue making new ones every year. If I was forced to do too much at once, I would just end up anxious, stressed, and extremely frustrated. Knowing what I know, has actually made me a bit stressed, but it hasn’t made me fearful. It has only made me stressed because it bothers me how so few people know about the chronic illness epidemic.
I told myself awhile ago that I wasn’t going to start a blog, it’s too much work and time. But I just became more and more unsettled by the wealth of information I have, my passion for writing, and my concern for the health of friends, family, our country, and future generations.

Why I Don’t Fear Short-Term or Long-Term Illnesses
It’s not ignorance or disbelief in how bad health conditions can be. It’s due to the knowledge I have gained over time about wellness.
Short-term Illnesses
I don’t worry at all about short-term illnesses and not really chronic illnesses at all because of the knowledge I have gained and applied to my life.
This doesn’t mean I’m sharing drinking glasses with someone who has the flu. I have never been known to get sick easily, so maybe that has something to do with it. But more so, I know when my body can defend something off and when it is weak and I might need some supplementation and extra rest to build it back up again. So I have supplements I take at the first sign of feeling tired and weak, I eat a bit healthier, and make sure to get extra sleep.
I also know my immune system is pretty strong because of all the wellness changes I have made over the years. So even if I were to get sick, my body could effectively fight off whatever I was dealing with pretty quickly. Weirdly, getting the flu should have me more freaked out than the average person, because it can cause autoimmune flare ups for me on top of the normal symptoms. So if you can imagine the pain of being sick actually doubled.
Long-term Illnesses
I don’t worry about long-term illnesses because of the numerous wellness changes I have made over the years. I’m doing the best that I can to prevent a chronic illness, and I know this because I understood the root causes of most chronic illnesses.
I know cancer or Alzheimer’s (which runs in my family) isn’t just genetics. Also, I know people don’t just wake up one day with a chronic illness. Instead, problems develop in the body over time and you reach this tipping point where the body can’t fight off whatever it’s fighting anymore. Then, symptoms appear as signs that something isn’t right, and that’s your body trying to communicate with you. Wellness Changes Are Worth It!
Some changes can feel incredibly hard. But if you understand the importance of it, once you commit you will feel really good about it, at least I do. Once I made certain changes that I knew would benefit my health both short-term and long-term it doesn’t even cross my mind to revert back.
I won’t buy and eat strawberries anymore that are not organic. I know how soaked in pesticides they are. But, there are some things I will eat that are not healthy for me at all. We can’t eat super healthy all the time because that’s simply no fun. Plus, with the culture and society we live in, that’s really hard to do! If foods are not exciting to you, and you can do that great.
With all the wellness changes I’ve made, I’ve seen some unexpected results. I have had more energy (than I thought was possible), less unhealthy sugar or junk food cravings, better sleep, more mental clarity, better memory, more focus, and just overall feelings of well-being.
Recognize Your Successes and Not Your Shortcomings
I’m actually too hard on myself. Sometimes I feel I could be doing better. But, I try to turn it around and think about all the healthy changes I’ve made over the years, and feel good about that. There are some things we are going to fail at doing. However, if we recognize that failure we can do better next time.

One thing I struggle with that has always been a challenge for me is drinking enough water every day. I know how much I should be drinking. I make the effort, but sometimes I get wrapped up in work or whatever is happening in my life and I forget till I’m in a state of dehydration. However, I have improved because back in my 20’s I never even recognized when I was dehydrated. I only realized I was dehydrated when I was extremely hot or doing a ton of exercise. Now I know the signs, I pay attention to them and remedy the situation.
My Health Has Improved by Probably 80-90%
I can say I’m 80%-90% healthier than I was 4-5 years ago. Is that possible if I have a chronic illness? Well, the stuff I ate and the way I took care of myself in my 20s is horrendous compared to the way I take care of myself now. Additionally, I have been detoxing from the body toxins I have accumulated over years. So it is almost like starting a bit fresh. Not to mention our cells are made up of what we eat and put in our bodies. I have been eating more whole foods, more organic, have tremendously reduced my sugar intake, and eat healthier proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. When you start to understand how much control you have over getting a chronic illness in the future, my hope is that you feel empowered.

We Can Influence Others & Spread the Wellness Lifestyle
There is this trickle effect that can happen if we commit to making healthy changes, see the effects, and understand the importance of what we are doing. It could be a small thing by serving healthier snacks at a party or at dinners with friends or family. Or it could be sharing just pieces of what you learn with other people. But someday it could mean organic food prices dropping, as we are already seeing more healthy choices becoming available in stores. However, the real hope is for chronic illness numbers to go down instead of increasing. I would love to see our country get healthier with more help from the government, more organizations fighting for healthier changes in our country, companies with better practices, and more integration of alternative treatments.
