Live healthy by learning about some of the biggest flaws in the U.S. healthcare system and how they are harming our health! An image of glass breaking to symbolize breaking the distorted views of how health works.

We have a ton of flawed perspectives on health that explain why so many people struggle for years in pain with no solutions, so many get chronic illnesses and become dependent on medication, so many people get sick in general, and the chronic illness numbers keep on rising. In addition, many people struggle today with anxiety, depression, fatigue, migraines, and more!

Just by starting to acknowledge and see these flaws in our healthcare system, and slowly finding ways to apply different views to your life, you will have a better chance at preventing not only short-term illnesses but long-term as well. You will have a better chance of not getting stuck in a pain cycle that you can’t get out of. But, it still all depends on you.

I can only show you how you have been brainwashed or manipulated by the healthcare industry, profit-hungry companies, and businesses with political interests. It’s up to you to adopt “The Wellness Resolution” to be open-minded, see the reality of our flawed healthcare system, and change the way you view your health.

It’s not easy and it can’t be done in one day. I’ve seen myself slide back into old habits of thinking in regards to my health. For example, it is hard to switch from a reactive view of health to a preventative view.

Reactive Health Views VS. Proactive/Preventative Health Views

Here are some examples of reactive vs proactive/preventative

A reactive view of health is “The pain isn’t bad even though it won’t go away, if it gets to the point I can’t function enough to do my day-to-day activities I will look into it, or my doctor says this is a problem and you need to get it fixed.” A proactive, preventative view is: “I’m starting to see this ongoing pain in my back, I’m going to get it checked out in case it gets worse or even harms my health long-term.”

Another preventative view, “Even though I don’t experience any pain or sickness from eating these boxed cookies and candies with high fructose corn syrup and other junk, I’m not going to eat them because I know they are not good for my long-term health. I can make my own healthier cookies instead.”

One last example of a proactive view is, “I want to evaluate now how well my body is functioning instead of waiting to see if I develop an illness in 5, 10, 20, or 30 years. I’m going to look into some tests: testing to see how well my organs are functioning, whether I have nutritional deficiencies or a toxin overload, etc.”

You are in CONTROL!

An image of hands on a steering wheel to talk about how we are all in the driver's seat taking control of our own health. You are the one in the driver’s seat making the calls when it comes to your health, no one else. It is your choice to trust that doctor, that healthcare company, that hospital, that advertisement.

Don’t let someone else take the wheel. Don’t drive on auto-pilot because you are more likely to end up in a ditch. Research, learn, grow, take preventative action, be proactive, and not reactive. Take care of your body because it is the only home you can’t move out of. It is easier to prevent illness and disease than it is to fix it. We should be taking better care of our bodies than our homes and our cars. But, sadly many people maintain their cars and homes better than their own bodies.

BOOK TO READ: A great book to read on how healthcare is failing us, how we are tricked into believing we can’t do anything to prevent illness, and ideas on how we can better maintain our health. What I don’t like is his concept of a “disease-free life” no one can promise that. But, I feel most of the information in this book will be beneficial, even if he oversells it a bit. Flaws in Our Healthcare to Be Aware Of

Flaw 1: We are Conditioned to Focus MORE on Short-Term Wants/Needs VS. Our Body’s Long-Term Needs

We have been conditioned here, in America, to focus more on our short-term health than our long-term health. Do you think often about the long-term results of what you are feeding yourself, how much sleep you are getting, how often you work out, how much stress you’re dealing with, and how much water you’re drinking? All these things matter for the longevity of your health. They are all important components in whether or not you get sick (cold, flu), or develop an illness or disease later on in life.

Excuses We Make in Regards to NOT Eating Healthy

Everything you eat affects your cells which is literally what you are made up of, and your body can fall apart when it doesn’t have proper nutrition among other things. There are a lot of excuses we make for ourselves as to why it is okay to eat unhealthily such as eating to feel better emotionally, not being able to afford healthy food, not having time, not liking vegetables, not enjoying cooking, it’s not convenient, etc. Many people don’t think twice before reaching for that candy bar or soda. Take a look at some of these short-term excuses we make and why they are so problematic in my blog: How We Focus More on Short-Term Health vs Long-Term Health.

Flaw 2: We Wait TOO Long to Fix Health Problems

Understanding What Symptoms Truly Mean

A bunch of signs saying

Many people shrug off a lot of health problems deciding they can just learn to manage the symptoms since they are not completely disrupting their life. We have a misguided representation though of what symptoms actually are because we have been brainwashed by the modern healthcare system. The medical system usually addresses symptoms, instead of searching for the root cause of a health issue. We tend to think of symptoms as problems we are experiencing. But symptoms are actually the body’s way of saying something isn’t right, fix it now! They are warnings!

Symptoms can be super confusing because they often show up in an area of the body different from where the actual problem is. A migraine typically isn’t where the problem is, it could be a liver problem, kidney problem, hormone problem, a lack of magnesium, an oral issue, or food sensitivity (those are some of the more common reasons).

Why We Need to Find What’s Wrong the First Sign of a Symptom

We should be looking for an answer to a health problem as soon as a symptom emerges, not when it is so bad we can’t function in our day-to-day lives! Sometimes the problem has been there for a long time way before the symptoms appeared, and a chronic health condition could be around the corner. Not paying attention to symptoms is like continuing to drive your car everywhere with the check engine light on and you haven’t even stopped to find out what the problem is. You say to yourself, “that’s okay the car is still running, it will be fine.” How many of us know how a car problem can escalate quickly into something much worse when it is just ignored?

Flaw 3: We Expect A Quick Fix & Rely TOO Much on Modern Medicine for Answers

As a society, we have become conditioned to expect a quick fix for most of our health problems. There seems to be a pill or surgical option for most things, even though with many health issues a pill is not a viable solution, and sometimes surgery isn’t necessary (but sometimes it is).

Problems with Medication and Modern Medicine

Medication often causes all sorts of side effects and just covers up a problem instead of addressing the root cause. Taking any medication long-term has consequences such as developing multiple new health issues. A major problem with Modern Medicine is it doesn’t offer any real guidance into preventative health. It doesn’t help chronic pain sufferers. Additionally, modern/conventional medicine is lacking many useful tests.

An image of a pile of colorful pills to discuss how we rely too much on modern medicine and there are more natural solutions for our health issues. When I got sick after having the horrible stomach flu and still had stomach pains afterward, I thought maybe the virus didn’t fully leave my system. I actually believed I would go to the doctor they would give me some pills that I would take for maybe a week or two. The problem would be fixed and my life would go back to normal. I was completely oblivious to what I was dealing with.

Many chronic pain sufferers become dependent on medication when there actually are things that can help! Then, there are injuries where many people become dependent on drugs to deal with the pain. Many end up with more health issues and then need even more medication. Modern medicine should mainly be used for short-term recovery or life-threatening situations such as accidents, serious illnesses, or serious injuries.

Very scientific. If you enjoy that, check it out. Missing Microbes: How the Overuse of Antibiotics Is Fueling Our Modern Plagues Buy here.

How Functional Integrative Medicine Can be Beneficial

Functional integrative medicine has many great tests that help to get down to the root cause of an illness and therefore can provide treatments to better heal patients naturally. There are no modern/conventional medicine tests to adequately address organs not functioning properly, nutrient deficiencies, toxins building up in the body, many chemical imbalances, and so much more!

Find out more about the problems with relying on modern medicine, taking medicine long-term, and why quick fixes are often not possible: Expecting A Quick Fix & Relying TOO Much on Modern Medicine.

Flaw 4: We Don’t See Our Healthcare System is DRIVEN by PROFITS. It is a Monopoly that was Created by Greedy People

I was personally shocked when I read about the history of modern medicine. It changed a lot of my perspectives on our healthcare system. We have a monopoly on healthcare in the United States. Our medical system is mostly focused on drugs, radiation, and surgery (allopathic medicine). Natural, holistic treatments are often ignored.

History Shows Alternative Treatments Can Help with MOST Health Issues

An image of paper money falling from the sky to discuss how our healthcare system is profit driven.Alternative treatments have been around way longer than the medical drug system we have today. These treatments were super effective 100 years ago and are still effective today! Colds to chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease on many occasions have been successfully treated with just natural, alternative treatments.

Over 100 years ago, both conventional and natural medicine did at one time co-exist together. In fact, naturopathic medicine, homeopathy, chiropractic, and osteopathy were thriving and doing better than the regular medical system. Many of America’s alternative treatments are anywhere from 100 to 1,000 years old.

Now we have a healthcare system completely driven by profits, not alleviating illness or preventing illness. I’m hoping that you understand everything in modern medicine is driven by profits and power. We can’t trust political sources when they have a financial interest. If you’ve read my food blogs you know how we were lied to about sugar, the benefits of cow’s milk, and you hopefully know the food pyramid is a lie, as well. BOOK TO READ: This book will give you a lot more details into the history of our healthcare, but it goes beyond that and might be even more than many people want to know or believe. Murder by Injection: The Story of the Medical Conspiracy Against America Buy here.

Flaw 5: We are so Focused on Cures INSTEAD of Preventative Health and Finding Root Causes

This is a hard pill to swallow, but the likelihood of there being a cure someday for any cancer or any other autoimmune disease is not a realistic concept because there is no financial incentive to cure anything. The only cures they are going to offer are something that brings in money, and quite possibly could make you sick into the future. The drug industry makes money off of people being sick. If there were cures that would mean less money in their pockets.

Incurable Can Actually Be A Lie

There are many people who have recovered from cancer and other autoimmune diseases that have even been called “incurable.” Many people have found improvement with alternative treatments, in fact before modern medicine natural medicine was used to for all types of illnesses and painful health conditions. There are many functional medicine doctors that have systems and tests to find root causes for illnesses. The positive side of natural treatments are little to no side effects, shouldn’t cause other health issues, and a healthier body all-around.

Common Sense Shows Cures Don’t Make Much Sense

A concept of a cure for many health conditions doesn’t actually make a lot of sense. There are multiple problems with a one-size-fits-all cure for health issues. View those on my blog: Cure vs Treatment & The MULTIPLE Problems with “CURES”

Preventative Health Makes MORE Sense than a Cure

Lastly, our focus on how do we cure this and cure that is just completely the wrong way of thinking about our problems. A cure won’t stop a person from making all the same mistakes that got them a chronic health condition in the first place. Instead of focusing on cures, we should be looking at how do we prevent these health conditions in the first place! I mean cancer rates are rising, chronic illness is becoming more common and here we are just thinking: “It just happens at random, it’s just genetics, no one actually knows.” No! most of it is preventable.

Flaw 6: We have Skewed Perspectives on Germs and Immune Health

Modern Healthcare is Focused on the Germ Theory Which is INVALID

An image of germs to discuss how the Germ Theory is inaccurate and we should actually pay attention to The Cellular Terrain Theory. Many people tend to think that if they are exposed to bad germs (cold or virus germs) that enter their body they will automatically get sick. But this is inaccurate. However, our healthcare system does make it seem like that’s the truth. Louis Pasteur came up with something called “The Germ Theory.” His theory states that germs are the cause of illness and disease, therefore you need to kill the germs to prevent and treat disease. But, this theory has many holes in it.

However, it was a profitable theory. So it became a defining principle in medicine and still is today. However, Antoine Bechamp proposed his scientific theory, the “Cellular Terrain Theory” around the same time. His theory showed disease is from a weakened immune system and his experiments showed his theory was correct. People are now starting to see that theory is accurate. This means our lifestyle (nutrition, sleep, stress, toxicity levels, pH levels, environmental toxins) are the things that determine whether or not we develop a disease or properly heal.

We Fear Germs and the Hygiene Hypothesis Shows We Shouldn’t!

There is also the “Hygiene Hypothesis” that shows we need a certain amount of exposure to germs because they help to fight off future illnesses. Germs are a part of a healthy immune system. We tend to think of germs as just bad, but this is entirely inaccurate. Bacteria is on every surface, everything we touch, on our skin, in us. We can’t kill the bad germs without killing the good germs, as well.

Find out more about these theories and how many allergies are not permanent along with root causes for allergies in my blog: Facts on Germs & Immune Health to Uncover the LIES

Flaw 7: We Don’t Think About Strengthening Our Immune System Regularly & Defending it When it’s Weak

How to Strengthen the Immune System

Being exposed to germs is actually great for your immune system if you are taking proper care of your body. You have to take care of your body by eating very few processed foods, not over-consuming sugar and processed carbohydrates, and eating the right things as I talk about in my food blogs. You need decent sleep, lots of water, and stress management to keep your immune system strong. I provide more details on the importance of each of those things in my blog: How to Strengthen Your Immune System & Defend it When it’s Weak

How to Notice a Weak Immune System & Take Care of It

An image of a girl laying down drinking tea trying to rest and fix her immune system this image represents how to notice your immune system is weak and then properly take care of it.It is not hard to notice when your immune system is weak, you just have to pay attention to the signs. Signs your immune system is weak would be: you haven’t been sleeping well and actually feel weak during the day, you feel fatigued, you are overly stressed, or actually have a scratchy throat or other signs of an illness starting to appear. This is when you need to take time for extra self-care; eating healthier, making time to relax, going to bed earlier, etc. You can also take supplementation to strengthen your body. Read more in-depth on my blog on how I maintain a healthy immune system and what I do when it is weak.

Flaw 8: Our Health System Separates “Body Mind Spirit,” But They are Actually Connected

With modern medicine, there is a huge focus on the physical aspects of a person’s health issue. Very little importance is given to the rest of a person’s health: mental, emotional, spiritual, and environmental aspects of health. Even in alternative medicine, many treatments focus on just physical health or just mental health. In ancient times there was no separation of mind, body, soul, and self.

Mental and Emotional Health Can Cause Physical Illness

Stress can cause physical health issues, along with chronic anger, sadness, and anxiety. According to traditional Chinese Medicine, each emotion is associated with an internal organ. If an emotion is too intense, it impacts that organ’s ability to function properly and vice versa. Many people end up with physical health issues that are addressed with medicine, food, supplements, or other physical therapies. But, the deeper mental/emotional issues get ignored.

Spiritual Health Can Cause an Illness OR Prevent Full Recovery

Even a spiritual issue can cause an illness or get in the way of an illness disappearing. A health issue could result from: feeling you lack purpose in the world, feeling no meaning in your life, or being bored with life. Most people need to feel like their life has meaning, they have a purpose, or just have a belief in life after death.

BOOK TO READ: This book is not only focused on self-care but also on finding balance and purpose in life. The Self Care Prescription: Powerful Solutions to Manage Stress, Reduce Anxiety & Increase Wellbeing Buy here

Environment Can Cause Physical Illnesses

Environment plays a role in physical health too! Your home can be the worst form of pollution. Air pollution inside a person’s house can be way more polluted than the outdoor air. If you use air fresheners, strong fragrances, chemical cleaners, you are adding pollution to the air you breathe.

Problem with Mind, Body, Spirit NOT Being Addressed

Many people get physical help from a problem (whether through modern medicine or alternative medicine), but the rest of their health goes unaddressed. Some stay sick, some become sick again, some find unhealthy ways to cope with their emotional/spiritual pain. It is a HUGE problem in the health world! Read more about the connection between mind, body, and spirit here: ILLNESS is RARELY JUST PHYSICAL Problems

Flaw 9: Our Society Views Healthy as NOT Being Overweight or Even Underweight

An image of a muscular man with 6 pack abs to discuss how even though a person might look healthy due to their weight and strength it doesn't mean they are.

Does he look healthy? That doesn’t mean he is. He could work hard on his body, but still, over-consume sugar, eat lots of prepackaged crap and have fatigue and all sorts of problems.

Many people think that because they are not carrying extra weight this somehow equates to them being healthy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Cellular health plays a much larger role!  We see people who are thin, tone, and not overweight getting cancer, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and other health issues. So we shouldn’t think that being a healthy weight is equivalent to being healthier overall.

Here is Why Cellular Health Matters More Than Weight

Everyone has to be careful about what they put in their bodies, whether they have a high metabolism, are bodybuilders, or Olympic athletes. What you eat is what your cells are made up of which is literally the building blocks of your body. The body needs all of these nutrients: vitamins, minerals, water, fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. When you eat a lot of processed foods, carbohydrates, and sugars your cells get filled with toxic substances. Enough toxins in your cells will lead to disease or a chronic illness. The good news is you can actually do cellular health testing to see how well your cells are doing!

Considerations for Finding a Healthy Weight – You Probably Haven’t Heard

There is also more that goes into determining a healthy weight than just height, weight, and healthy fat to muscle ratio. Ayurveda medicine teaches about different healthy weights depending on which of the 3 body types you have.

Problems with Diets

There is also a huge problem with relying on diets such as calorie counting for losing weight because these kinds of diets don’t actually teach you how to eat healthily. The best diet is truly one where you just eat healthier long-term. But, some people can’t lose weight after trying multiple diets and exercising regularly, and there could be other things going on. View more about weight loss resistance, diet problems, figuring out a healthy weight, and why cellular health is more important here: Perfect Weight Doesn’t = Healthy – Cellular Health Matters More.

Flaw 10: Very Few People See How Our Healthcare has Deteriorated Over the Years

Perhaps one of the biggest flaws in our healthcare is we don’t see how our health is becoming progressively worse. Some think gluten intolerances are just a fad, it’s normal for many people to suffer from migraines, ADHD in kids is normal, medicine has become more advanced so we can do chemotherapy for cancer if we get it. We don’t know how the health of people over 100 years ago was way better, or maybe you do if you have been reading my blogs. This is a HUGE problem that I expand on in my blog: What Health Conditions Are Becoming More Common.

BOOK TO READ: This book does a great job at sharing all the various problems with our modern medical system. However, the author does incorrectly talk about naturopathy being a “cure.” This isn’t accurate, because you have to personally make healthy changes and be able to afford to do so. You don’t just pop a pill and your problems are fixed. There are no guarantees. The MD Emperor Has No Clothes: Everybody Is Sick and I Know Why Buy here.

How to Live a Healthy Lifestyle & Make Your Health a Priority

An image of a man's fist breaking through glass to represent breaking through the lies and discovering the truth.

Break free from the lies.

Your health should be a top priority! Self-care is essential! Don’t rely on modern medicine to have all the answers because they don’t. Look for multiple doctors’ opinions when dealing with difficult health issues. Consider having a functional medicine doctor in addition to your primary care doctor. You are the only one who can find solutions!

Don’t assume political organizations and marketers have your best interests in mind when it comes to your health. Usually, the most popular food brands with commercials are actually the most unhealthy foods out there. Be open to other points of view, and do some research when it comes to companies with financial interests. Sometimes the truth is the most unpopular point of view.

In Conclusion,

I know some people will still choose to believe if something is all over the media, if celebrities, political officials are all saying it is a great thing and it is necessary, they will believe it. Which I understand because we have all been brainwashed for such a long time, and they haven’t stopped trying to brainwash us. They are incredibly good at it and have the money and power to do it! But, I’m hoping a good percentage of you will think twice now about what the majority of people are saying. I’m hoping that you understand the world is driven by profits and power. If they can make money off your health they will! Some of it is just straight-out lies!
